Igor Vuksanović, known online by his artist name Girooza, is a multidisciplinary artist from Serbia who specializes in 3D and 2D illustration, digital drawing, and vector art, as well as animation and character design for video game development.
Girooza’s art stems from an exploration of the interplay between his self-identity, the ever growing connectedness/dependency between humans and technology, and how this complex relationship affects society and the evolution of culture. He does not shy away from incorporating the inspirations from his youth together with the challenges of his adult life into his work. However, through explicit symbolism, and a clever use of distortion to the figures he creates of archetypal characters, he invites personal interpretation and introspection from the viewer.
By blending elements of fantasy, retro gaming, and cyber aesthetics, Girooza’s work maintains a unique style he’s coined Ancient Science Fiction, ASF for short. Further, his characters belong to his artistic universe called “Etnotik” – a world where mystical technology, ancient forces, and fragments of lost civilizations intertwine. He maintains the delicate balance between the real and imagined in “Etnotik” by giving great attention and detail to the form, composition, and texture of his works.
Currently his workflow includes ZBrush, Photoshop, Illustrator, Blender, and Substance Painter, with plans to begin incorporating Unreal Engine in the near future. He maintains an active and engaged artist presence on his social media, and regularly shares process videos, speed drawings, and progress updates on his more complex, challenging characters and animations.
